Monthly Author Newsletter - August 2025
Foreword
Hello there!
I'm happy to grace your inbox again, after having taken the month of July to reset and recharge. I didn't have many updates to give you, so it didn't feel right to spam your inbox with empty promises. With that being said...
I've completely shifted gears, and full focus is now with Book Three, The Serpent and the Shattered Sword, which will be coming your way on November 26th. The manuscript has been with its two fabulous beta readers for the past few weeks, and their thoughts (and maybe prayers) should be returning back by mid month.
This email will provide some updates and exciting news as we move through the summer. So, without further adieu, let's mosey!
Housekeeping: For those who've joined us since the last edition
As I promised each of you when you signed up, here's the link to the free short story, The Last Honor of Iosefa Fatu. There's no better time to read this than right now! This is the segue between the first and second novel in my The Fates of Aten series. Not required reading, but I highly recommend you do for...reasons...

ARC Team Signup: The Serpent and the Shattered Sword
There's still plenty of space to sign up for this ARC team if you so desire. I have 12 spots filled out of 80, and haven't truly begun the big push yet. There's still plenty of time to get yourself through Books 1 and 2, if you haven't yet got to them yet.
This is your opportunity to jump on the ARC team for Book Three!
The cap for Book Three will sit at 80 ARC team members, though I won't turn away any who have reviewed my books previously if we exceed the cap.

Both The Waking of Storm and Flame and The Last Cry of Innocence are available to read FREE on Kindle Unlimited. If you know someone who has a membership and is looking for their next epic/classic fantasy read, make sure you send them my way :)
EXCITING NEWS!
BLUF: You'll be seeing the series re-covered before the release of book three.
I figured I'd put the biggest update right at the head, so you didn't have to search through this if you didn't want. From the first moment I started this series, I dreamed of having "artsy" covers. You know, like those you see on most books: covers done by artists, vice stock imagery. Not that I didn't love my covers with stock images, quite the contrary in fact, but I just wanted to take it a step further.
I wanted the stories to capture the mythological mystique of their epic nature. So, I was fortunate to discover a cover designer on Instagram (after seeing the finished product of another he did), and decided that was the route I wanted to go.
I know a lot of you have copies of the original covers - which will always be special to me, as those are first editions, but I wanted to align the series with my original goals before we crossed the mid-point. It wasn't a decision I made lightly, and only came to the finality of it in the past few weeks.
That being said, I'm super excited to showcase these amazing new covers for you (hopefully) in the September newsletter!
It's not farewell, it's see you next month!
And that's all I have for you for August. I hope you're in the middle of an awesome summer! If you need a book for the cabin, the lake, the car, or your bookshelf, you know the guy to ask ;)
Until next time, my friend! Happy reading,
Your favourite Fantasy author - Nick "N.A." Betts
P.S. - For Book Four, TCOTSS, I've pushed it to just over 140 pages.
